Community Wellbeing

4/7/2016 2:02 PM EDT

Making the world a better, and healthier, place to live, work and play is an important element of living a purpose-driven life. And the part of the world that is most relevant to most people is the local community in which they live. This translates directly into the importance of work that helps make the local community a better, healthier place. Such activities that help provide resources, funding, knowledge and activities that drive community wellbeing and improve public health are meaningful to many employees of all ages-but it is especially a driver of employee engagement among "millinials".

HealthETeams Challenge challenge ideas that are reflect actions that improve Community Wellbeing are those that fit this topic area. and those that emphasize teamwork and collaboration as a way to drive better results in local community health improvement are the ones we want to select from in this Topic area.

The rules allow me to also post items of interest on the calendar and participate in the fun and value of HealthETeams Challenge challenges. So, I posted an interesting little tidbit that I read about in the local newspaper regarding a 5K race to benefit local charities and to honor the first anniversary of the Elizabeth River Crossings tunnel connecting Norfolk to the mid-town area of Portsmouth. Check it out on the Calendar tab of this group profile!

The folks at the Retail Alliance are putting on a THRIVE webinar on September 21st at noon to help small employers understand some of the new options available to them through the Retail Alliance's RAIN program (Retail Alliance Insurance Network).

The webinar is entitled Use RAIN to Rein in Employee Benefits Costs. I think it is an excellent public service in support of helping employers afford to help their employees lead healthier lives and to contribute to a healthier community.

More details are available on the Calendar for September in the Calendar tab at the top of this HealthETeams Support group profile.
