Back to the Future: Doctor House Calls

A fascinating cover story in this past Sunday's edition of The Washington-Post's National Weekly publication.  It seems that one of the earliest best practices.....

in the field of family medicine or general practice medicine was doctor's making house calls to sick patients.  The article points out that this "something old is new again" trend is making a comeback.

For consumers of all types of products and services, convenience and affordability are important features.  And it turns out that for many patients, the house call is a favored new product because it is convenient and its cost is usually quite a bit less than to go to the actual doctors' offices or to hospitals and urgent care facilities.  So, as the quest for better quality, more convenient and cheaper healthcare continues to move forward, this old practice from generations ago is coming back into vogue.

Let's keep an eye on it.  With mobility and consumer ease of access being real value drivers, this "back to the future" model may be a big hit...again!
